Chapter 43: Heilon (2)
Sigren walked down the hallway of Heilon Mansion as the sunset. He had a lot of work to do, so he arrived later than the others. The way he appeared in the capital yesterday didn’t fit his personality—it was too boisterous. Honestly, he was quite annoyed. However, Abel had insisted it was necessary to make a strong impression, and Sigren had complied, albeit reluctantly. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
‘That damn master. He must have enjoyed seeing me suffer.’
“Sigren.”
He stopped at the sound of his name. Turning around, he saw a girl with a familiar face. Her silver hair swayed gently, and her vivid red eyes were fixed on him.
“Fiona.”
Fiona approached slowly. “Are you going to stay here for a while? I was worried because you weren’t at dinner.”
“Right.” As he answered, he took a step closer to her. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
Although it had been a while since they had last seen each other, their conversation continued as if they had met just yesterday.
“Your clothes are damp. Was it raining outside?”
“Ah…” Sigren then noticed that his clothes and hair were a bit wet. As she said, it was drizzling outside. “A little.”
Fiona grabbed his wrist and gently pulled him along. “Even in spring, if you stay damp, you’ll catch a cold.”
She led him into her room, the nearest place, and handed him a towel. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
However, Sigren wiped the moisture from his hair in a dry manner. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
“Do it properly.” Fiona took the towel from him and began to help dry his hair. She couldn’t help it.
Sigren sighed as Fiona’s hands worked through his hair.
“….” Hearing the sigh, Fiona glanced at him. She remembered that Sigren had been very angry with her before she left. Was he no longer upset? She felt awkward thinking about it and hoped he had forgotten. Besides, he had just achieved something significant; he should be feeling quite happy.
However, Sigren’s demeanor was heavy for someone so young. It would have been nice if he had a more lively disposition, like a typical young man. The silence between them felt uncomfortable, and Fiona couldn’t stand it.
“Was it difficult to catch the dragon?” she asked.
“Not really,” Sigren replied briefly.
“I’m glad,” Fiona said with a small laugh, but she felt a bit guilty knowing that Sigren would face even more powerful dragons in the future.
Suddenly, Sigren grabbed Fiona’s wrist and pulled her closer. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
“Sigren?”
“It’s done now.” Sigren stood up, placing the towel on the back of the chair. Due to their height difference, he now looked down at Fiona, studying her face closely. He noticed she seemed a little skinny. An impulse to hug her flashed through his mind, but he resisted acting on it.
Fiona, however, moved first.
“It’s a little late, but you really did a great job. Awesome.” Fiona smiled and hugged Sigren lightly.
The hug was meant to be a friendly gesture and would have ended quickly, but Sigren didn’t want to let go. He pulled her closer.
“Sigren…”
Hearing her puzzled voice, Sigren wondered if she expected him to stay still. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
“….” Sigren rested his head on Fiona’s shoulder and hugged her tightly.
“Tired?” Fiona asked softly.
“A little bit.”
Fiona shifted slightly under Sigren’s arms but didn’t push him away.
Then Sigren asked the question he had wanted to ask while at Heilon. “What are you going to do in the future?”
“I need to finish the work the Duke gave me first.”
“The work in this mansion?”
“Uh-huh.”
Sigren lightly clicked his tongue. “You’re always so soft.”
She had been like that since they first met—kind to everyone but never fully giving her heart or staying in one place. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
“If you’re going to leave, you should just throw Abel aside.”
“I told you, it’s Master,” Fiona said, slightly pushing Sigren’s shoulder after correcting how he referred to Abel.
Sigren’s hand fell from Fiona’s waist. “If you’re like that, the Duke will follow you to the ends of the continent.”
Fiona mumbled, “Well… I can’t deny that I’m a bit soft.”
“So you know?”
With a sigh, Fiona replied, “I know.”
Sigren had no intention of criticizing Fiona’s softness. It was, in fact, the reason he had been able to stay by her side for so long. There was always room for him to get closer. Sometimes, in certain circumstances, this was what he liked most. “Then, what are you going to do when the work at the mansion is over?”
Fiona’s eyes twinkled. “I’m going to buy a house.”
“Where?”
“Actually, I was thinking of the countryside, but it seems it would be more inconvenient than I thought. I might just buy a house on the outskirts of the capital. At least it would be quieter.” Fiona grinned as she imagined her dream of owning a house. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
“I have something to say.” Sigren’s expression grew serious.
