Chapter 197: Fiona (1)
When I visited Carl in prison, he was sitting very calmly. Looking at him, I didn’t know which words to say first. Read the translation on itsladygrey.com.
“Hello, Carl.” I pulled up a chair and sat down, facing him with the iron bars between us.
“Has the decision about me been made?”
“Honestly, I’m not sure.”
I was serious. I was still confused about it too. But I had a more important question first. “Do you still want to kill me?”
Carl smiled bitterly, “Actually, I don’t know.”
He looked at his palm for a moment, as if thinking about something, “Young Lady probably doesn’t know….”
“What?”
“How important it is in my life to punish the person who killed my mother.”
“I understand to a degree, so it’s not totally impossible to understand that.” I clenched and released the hem of my skirt. “If someone killed Duke, I would follow them to the end of hell and kill them.”
Carl chuckled. He looked a bit like Sigren. “That doesn’t suit you, Miss.”
“Really?” I shrugged lightly. It seemed like Carl was kinder to me than I thought.
“Of course, there is a saying that revenge is meaningless and that the dead wouldn’t want that. But do those points even matter?” I added clearly, “What matters is that I want the blood of my enemies.”
Carl’s eyes widened. It seemed like he found my cruel thoughts shocking.
“I told you in advance, Carl. Any person would develop this kind of thought after years of spending life on the Heilon battlefield. It doesn’t mean I have a particular personality problem though.”
“Yes, I’ve never thought that way.”
I scratched my cheek receiving a gentle reaction. “Anyway, what I want to say is…. I don’t think you’re a bad person for what you did. In fact, I’m more worried towards Sigren who, I think, has gone too easy on me.”
“Because you’re his first priority in his life.”
Was that the reason? He must be a fiance with clear priorities. Read the translation on itsladygrey.com.
“If only I also liked you a little more… You probably wound’t have been stabbed.”
He smiled bitterly as if remembering the moment he stabbed me.
“After the moment I stabbed you, I was shocked myself. In these days, I’ve been trying to figure out why I did that.”
“I thought so.”
I glanced at Carl.
“The way you stabbed me showed you had no intention of killing me, that you didn’t really hate me.”
“Yes, I think so.” Carl obediently agreed to what I said.
Ah, I think there was hope to keep him on my side.
“Then, if you like me more in the future, do you think you’ll be able to forgive me?”
Carl nodded unexpectedly without hesitation. “Maybe… but…, I don’t know.”
Oh, really?
I quickly came to a conclusion about his punishment. Read the translation on itsladygrey.com.
With everything that happened, I still like the pretty Carl.
“Okay, it’s settled.”
I rummaged through my pocket, taking out the key to the iron bar.
Carl looked puzzled. “What do you mean? What’s been solved?”
“You said you can forgive me if you like me more, right? So, to make someone like you more and increase intimacy, you have to spend time together.”
I came to a simple conclusion.
“So, I’ll release you, Carl. Let’s go around and work with me for a while.”
“Wait, is that all right?”
“I’m the one who is releasing the culprit who stabbed me, what’s there to say?”
“What are you going to do if I stab you again?”
This guy, how could he try to stop me from releasing him?
“Seeing that you’re so worried, I think it’ll be okay to release you. Besides you looked so confused and shocked at that time. I believe maybe the next time you’re going to stab me, that’s after you’ve had time to think it through.”
Carl got up from the chair and urgently grabbed my hand as I tried to unlock the lock. Read the translation on itsladygrey.com.
“What’s the matter?”
“Okay, let me ask you one last question,”
“Sure.”
“I don’t understand, but the Crown Prince said that Miss created everything. And you didn’t deny it.”
“You might not believe me even if I explain it in detail, but in short, it’s true.”
“Then, is everything that happened to me and Sigren on purpose? I heard there is a saying that God gives human trials on purpose because He loves them.”
So, he asked me if I did everything on purpose, did he?
I’m afraid I’m not such a theological and philosophical person. Rather, I’m a bit more simple.
“No way.”
“….”
“It’s simply my fault and mistake. I didn’t know it would turn out like this.”
I felt the need to explain in more detail, looking at Carl who seemed confused.
“That’s why I’ve been trying to make everything right. Of, course, that includes being forgiven by you, Carl.”
The strength in Carl’s hand that was holding my hand gradually faded.
I put the key in the lock and turned and twisted the key. Click, there was the sound of a lock being opened.
“That’s also why I chose to get closer to you rather than punish you.”
Kiik– The heavy iron door opened. Read the translation on itsladygrey.com.
Carl smiled bitterly while staring at the open door. “At least, I like that more…”
“What?”
“Rather than saying that heaven gives human trials because they care for them,”
“Ah…”
“Confessing that you did it by mistake, that you want to make it right–”
Carl whispered slowly.
“It’s much more comforting.”
I smiled at him.
“If so, that’s a relief, Carl.” Read the translation on itsladygrey.com.
