Chapter 99: Boom and Bust (1)

What Fiona asked Livya to do was simple: she just had to subtly inform the crown prince about the illegal arena and encourage him to visit. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.

“You don’t need to directly ask him to go. I don’t want Lady Livya to be caught in the middle for nothing.”

Livya laughed. “Don’t worry. I’m confident.”

Fiona had anticipated that Livya might be able to accomplish this when she initially asked her. In fact, Fiona was convinced that this could be Livya’s specialty. Wasn’t that the kind of ability a villain character often possessed? Destruction by mere words!

‘I trust the characters’ setting.’

“So, you’re looking forward to it?”

Livya raised the corners of her lips. “Absolutely.”

Livya hadn’t yet unleashed her formidable influence, but her voice was already captivating. Fiona hadn’t anticipated that the characteristics she attributed to Livya would be so enchanting. Livya’s voice was so gentle and alluring that Fiona was sure anyone would be captivated by it.

With a smile, Livya headed to the terrace where the crown prince was. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.

‘I’m worried.’ Fiona watched Livya’s retreating figure and glanced around to ensure no one was watching. She then quickly moved to a nearby window. ‘If something happens to her, it will be my responsibility.’

The sun was setting, and the meeting place was quite a distance away. Fiona feared that Crown Prince Enoch might do something to Livya.

Fiona removed her shoes and took a moment to gauge the distance to the branch outside the window.

‘I think this will work.’

She climbed onto the window sill and leaped effortlessly. Using her magic skillfully, she landed on a thick branch. As a few leaves fluttered down, she settled on the relatively stable branch and positioned herself to observe the terrace where Livya and the crown prince were meeting. ‘This feels like being an assassin.’

Fiona held her breath and listened intently to their conversation. Livya’s voice, soft and sweet, drifted up to her.

“Your Highness, have you heard the rumor?”

Crown Prince Enoch had been feeling quite pleased lately. Livya, who had previously rejected him, had suddenly changed her attitude after he sent the proposal letter. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.

‘She’s just playing hard to get.’

“What rumor are you talking about?”

“Well, I’ve heard that there’s a place where you can see monsters right in the middle of the Capital.”

“In the Capital?” Enoch asked, intrigued. Normally, monsters could only be found in the forests outside the walls.

“Yes, it’s quite a strange rumor. I wonder where it is.”

“If it’s about monsters, didn’t we see plenty of them during the hunting competition?”

“It’s different. They say the monsters are kept in captivity, and you can see them up close.” Livya narrowed her eyes. “I’ve heard that they even make the monsters fight each other to determine winners and losers.”

Enoch’s curiosity was piqued. “Win or lose?”

“Yes, it’s a special sight that ordinary people would never see. Doesn’t that sound exciting?”

The phrase “special sight” was used to great effect.

“Well, where is this place?”

Livya shrugged nonchalantly. “I don’t know either. Many men have refused to give me details about it. In fact, I’ve only heard about it from Count Isaac and Viscount Owell.”

Those were the two nobles Fiona had identified as being connected to the illegal arena during her investigation. Livya was using this information smoothly.

Enoch chuckled and stroked Livya’s cheek. “That’s good. The most beautiful flower in society should be treated with respect.”

Livya suppressed the discomfort creeping up inside her. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.

“Well, if Your Highness asks those two, they would surely give you an answer, wouldn’t they?”

“That’s right, Livya.”

It was almost over. Livya spoke in a soft tone. “Do you mind telling me your impression after you watch it later? I’m curious.”

“Of course not. Sure.”

Enoch grinned at her submissive attitude. “It’s interesting to hear you chatter like a night owl, but come closer.”

As Enoch reached out, Livya smoothly stepped back. “I’m sorry, Your Highness, but I have an appointment with another lady.”

“But isn’t the crown prince more important?”

Livya fluttered her eyelashes and smiled charmingly. “Let’s have a better time when we meet next time, okay?”

She whispered the lie sweetly, as if offering candy. “Because we will have plenty of time to spend together.”

‘She’s good,’ I thought briefly while sitting on a branch, listening to their conversation. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.

The crown prince adjusted his hand, which had almost touched Livya.

‘If Livya had no other choice and decided to go along with the proposal, she could make the crown prince like a puppet.’

It was a bit frightening, even if it was just an assumption.

The tension eased when the crown prince and Livya disappeared from the terrace. Now, I needed to head back as well.

“What are you doing there?”

A voice from below startled me, making my body tremble instinctively. I hadn’t sensed anyone’s presence. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
