Chapter 115: A Battle of Sincerity [unedited]
“Hahaha…” I couldn’t stop laughing as I listened to Sigren’s story. I had been surprised by his sudden visit at such a late hour, but after hearing the reason, I couldn’t help but laugh at his predicament. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
Sigren looked somewhat discouraged. “I knew it…”
I grabbed his hand and gave it a playful shake. “Ah, why? Are you upset because I’m laughing?”
Oh my, our dear prince had just survived a grand seduction and an attempted ‘physical assault!’
“That young lady certainly has guts. Well, in the end, our Sigren is quite the attractive man.”
The viscount’s eldest daughter was undoubtedly pretty, but I never imagined she would do something so bold.
Sigren looked at me bitterly. “Are you enjoying this?”
I couldn’t help it; I half-rolled on the bed, still laughing. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
“A little… Hiccup!”
Oops, I think I laughed too much. Now I had hiccups. Was this punishment for finding so much amusement in my dear friend’s suffering?
Sigren handed me a cup of water.
“Thank you, hiccup!”
Even after drinking, the hiccups stubbornly refused to go away.
Eventually, Sigren sat down next to me and gently patted my back. The warmth of his hand through my thin pajamas felt comforting, but my hiccups continued.
The quiet room was now awkwardly filled with just the sound of my persistent hiccups, making me feel a little embarrassed.
Sigren let out a slow sigh and got up from the bed. “This won’t do.”
What? My hiccups?
“I’ll go.”
“Oh, hiccup! Why?”
“Even though I expected this and tried to prepare myself… it’s still too much.”
I quickly grabbed his hand. Was he upset that I laughed at him? I looked up at Sigren, noticing the dissatisfied look on his face. It was an expression I’d seen more often than not. It made me wonder if he truly liked me. He said he did, but I wasn’t entirely sure… So, I stayed silent. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
“This hiccup, hiccup! Wouldn’t it stop hiccup! If I’m surprised? Hiccup!”
Then I spoke quickly without breathing. “So surprise me!”
“Really?”
I nodded.
Sigren reached out and cupped my cheeks in his palms, giving me a look ‘how could i put this?’
What? What’s wrong?
He squinted his eyes slightly. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
“Fiona.”
“What?”
His hand moved to my chin, and his thumb gently brushed over my lips.
I blinked in surprise. Ah, was this his way of catching me off guard? How clever.
“….”
He softly stroked my cheek and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, as if giving me a moment to say no, offering me a chance to refuse if I wanted.
His touch tickled me.
Eventually, I closed my eyes and sulked, “Right, it must be hard to even drag out something like a kiss when you’re dating—”
Before I could finish, I felt a slightly rough yet soft touch on my lips.
Why doesn’t he wait until I’m done talking?
Amusingly, my hiccups stopped. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
“Mmm…”
Sigren wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me closer. His hands gently stroked my back. As I flinched from the sudden movement, he licked my lips as if to soothe me. There was a faint scent of wine on him. His lips softly bit and sucked mine. At first, I was slow to react, but then I responded by gently biting his lips in return.
“….”
The kiss deepened, making it harder for me to breathe. His soft tongue explored my mouth, stealing more of my breath.
“Wait… hmm.”
I tried to pull away for a break, but his tongue slipped back in, silencing my protest. My small grievance was swallowed by his mouth.
Sigren placed his hand on my back and gently laid me down on the bed. The soft mattress pressed against my back, and the rustling of the bedsheets seemed unusually loud. The hem of my pajamas was crumpled, and all the while, I clutched the edge of Sigren’s shirt.
“Fiona,” he murmured softly, calling my name. He grabbed a handful of my hair that was splayed across the bed and kissed it gently. Then, he smiled—a smile meant to steal someone’s soul. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
Sigren leaned over and lightly caressed the side of my face.
The bed creaked softly beneath us.
“Haa…”
I exhaled, barely catching my breath. I looked away briefly before releasing the shirt I’d been gripping. It was noticeably wrinkled.
When I looked up again, Sigren was still watching me, a faint hunger in his eyes. His gaze traced the line of my lips, my hair, and the nape of my neck, one by one. He resembled a hawk circling the sky, locking onto its prey, while I felt like a rabbit darting across the field.
It was such a stark contrast to the Sigren who blushed at my touch earlier. Now, seeing him like this, I felt a little betrayed.
“You said you only wanted a kiss,” I muttered, annoyed. Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
He looked as though he was fully intent on taking my soul along with that kiss!
Sigren chuckled softly. “Sorry.”
“I’d bet my ten fingers that you’re not sorry.”
He gently took my hand and kissed my fingers, his touch soft, as if to calm me. I nudged his lips lightly with my hand.
Stop! I want my cute Sigren back!
“If you try anything else, I’ll hit you,” I warned.
“I won’t do anything more since I can’t hold back if I do,” Sigren said, helping me stand up.
First, he had me lying down, now he’s helping me up. He was really putting me through a lot. Even though he said he wouldn’t do more, he seemed disappointed. He hugged me, then kissed the back of my ear and the exposed nape of my neck, like a child savoring candy.
Every time his lips brushed my skin, I flinched at the tickling, unfamiliar sensation.
“My shoulders are cold,” I muttered.
Sigren pulled the blanket around me, wrapping me up while gazing into my eyes. “I should go back now.”
I burrowed deeper into the blanket and asked, “What if the young lady is still in your room?”
“No chance,” he replied, tilting his head. “She won’t be that persistent.” Read the translation only on itsladygrey.com.
He then bumped his forehead against mine gently. “Besides, I don’t think it would be good for me to stay here much longer.”
I smiled and said generously, “You can stay if you just want to sleep while holding my hand.”
