Chapter 187: Loose Leash
Sigren leaned against my doorway. “How do you feel?”
“I slapped that guy, so I’m fine.”
If I hadn’t slapped him, I would have regretted it. Read the translation on itsladygrey.com.
I looked at Sigren. “Is there something you want to say to me?”
I asked because I thought he cared about what that man had said earlier.
“Do… do you believe what he said?”
I shrugged lightly. “Are you asking whether I believe I’m being used by you and the Duke? No, I don’t. It was a malicious remark, just by looking at it.”
He exhaled, like a sigh of relief.
I tapped the edge of my bed. “Come here. Let’s talk.”
He obediently sat down next to me.
I spoke very carefully. “I’ve remembered some things that happened in the past, but they come to mind only occasionally. Many times, I don’t fully understand the context of those memories.”
I decided to keep it a secret that I actually remembered the original Fiona’s childhood before she was ten years old. That memory was so lonely, and I would like to forget it if I could. Read the translation on itsladygrey.com.
“What did come to mind?”
“Promise.” I muttered, tracing the faint fog in my mind. “I told you, Sigren, that you would have much in the future: money, fame, power, love…”
Sigren agreed calmly. “You did.”
And I found a question about that memory. “But I have never once asked you if you wanted that.”
When that memory surfaced, I realized how similar I was to parents who sent their children to cram school, expecting them to get high grades without knowing much about what their children actually wanted.
I looked at Sigren. “Do you want those things?”
Although it seemed strange for someone not to want money, power, and fame, it was important to know what Sigren truly desired.
“No.”
Well, that was the answer I’d expected from him.
“Then?”
“What I want right now is for you to get your memories back.”
“Then, what about before I lost my memory?”
Sigren shrugged his shoulders. “Going back to Heilon and growing old together with you?”
“Isn’t that too simple for a prince who has lived an eventful life?”
“Of course, there’s more.”
“What? Say it…”
He smiled faintly. “I think if I tell you, I’ll be treated like a vulgar bastard.”
I grabbed Sigren’s forearm and shook it. “I won’t. Just say it…”
“Good.” Sigren chuckled and pulled my arm, then gently lifted my chin. Read the translation on itsladygrey.com.
Well, mm, I had asked him to tell me what he wanted… I was conflicted, wondering whether I should slap him or close my eyes.
Sigren murmured as if he sensed my thoughts, “Do both, Fiona.”
What, was he reading my mind?
Sigren chuckled when he saw me rolling my eyes, then he bit my chin slightly. Read the translation on ladygrey.com.
“Ah…” I was startled and took a step back.
Sigren let go and spoke in a dirty tone, very naturally. “You would have slapped me if I had kissed you.”
“You know me very well…”
I continued calmly, “Okay, that means you want something sexual from me.”
Now that I thought about it a little, wasn’t it obvious? We were engaged! It was so clear!
Sigren narrowed his eyes. “When you say it like that, I truly feel like a real bastard.”
“No, no, it’s only natural given our current situation…”
“Fiona…”
Sigren sighed. “You got it wrong. It’s been like that for a long time.”
I tried to appear understanding, but all I received was criticism. Anyway, this was a dangerous topic to discuss in the bedroom.
I quickly changed the subject. “Then, is there anything else you wanted?”
Sigren responded calmly to my awkward shift in topic. “Yes.”
“What is it?”
He chuckled. “If I tell you, I’d be treated like a crazy person, so I won’t.”
“What on earth…”
“Anyway, for now, I just hope you find your memories safely.” Sigren frowned slightly at the corners of his eyes, and a faint look of pain crossed his face. Read the translation on itsladygrey.com.
I stared at his face. Was he suffering because I had lost my memory? Seeing him like that made my heart throb. I felt even sadder than when I had a dream about Fiona before.
I carefully caressed Sigren’s eyes, feeling the density of his eyelashes. “Losing my memories doesn’t mean I change as a person, Sigren.”
I slowly hugged his head. “I still cherish you.”
I felt Sigren slowly exhale in my arms. I quietly apologized. “I’m sorry for not knowing that you’ve been having a hard time.”
He stayed still for a moment, then hugged me tightly. It was so tight, as if he were afraid I would disappear at any moment. Read the translation on itsladygrey.com.
